I was watching Jersey Shore on MTV (episode10), the other day, and Pauly D made a comment about Angelina being a whore because she was hooking up with guys. She explained that she was single and free to do what she wanted. Angelina says that the guys bring girls home all the time and hook up with them, but when she does something similar its wrong and makes her a whore. Pauly responds by saying that its ok for guys to do it, but its not ok for girls.
I disagree with that statement. I think that if its ok for guys to hook-up with girls then it should be ok for girls to hook up with guys. Why are girls held to a different standard? Sex takes two people and if guys are hooking up with girls then these girls are taking part in "hook-ups." Therefore, if these girls weren't present and weren't "whores" then guys wouldn't be having sex. So, if we think about it, I think that our views on this issue should change. Why are girls set to a higher standard? Why should women be afraid to expierience sex because socially people are judging them? I think that if people choose hooking up as a life choice then they shouldn't be judged for that. Lets face it, the days of purity and abstinence are over. That isn't to say that its not present in society because I know that it is. However, I think it is obvious that times have changed and it is no longer the norm. As long as people are responsible and safe about sex then why are we judging them?
